Texas Teen Driver Education Online Course

Drive Smart Driving School offers a Texas teen driver education online course for students ages 14–17 who are preparing for a Texas learner license and driver license.

This course includes the required 24-hour classroom portion of Texas teen driver education through a structured online course. Families may choose either the full program with driving or the classroom-only option.

Drive Smart serves students locally in Carrollton, The Colony, Lewisville, Plano, Frisco, Dallas, Denton, Denton County, Collin County, and the DFW area, while also offering the online classroom portion to eligible students across Texas.

Choose Your Teen Driver Education Option

Option 1: Teen Full Program with Driving — $475

This option includes:

• 24 hours of online classroom instruction
• 7 hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction
• 7 hours of in-car observation

This is the best option for students in our local driving service area who want to complete the classroom and required in-car instruction with Drive Smart Driving School.

Behind-the-wheel driving lessons for the full program may be scheduled at either our Carrollton location or The Colony location. In-car lessons are taught by a TDLR-licensed in-car driving instructor.

This full teen driver education option is especially helpful for families in Carrollton, The Colony, Lewisville, Plano, Frisco, Denton, Dallas, Fort Worth, and surrounding DFW communities who want a local driving school to handle both classroom instruction and in-car training.

Option 2: Teen Classroom-Only Program — $100

This option includes the 24-hour online classroom course only. Behind-the-wheel driving instruction, in-car observation, and road testing are not included with the classroom-only purchase.

Classroom-only means the student completes the classroom part of teen driver education with Drive Smart, but the family is responsible for completing the required in-car driving portion separately before the student can qualify for a Texas driver license.

Families who choose classroom-only may later purchase driving instruction from Drive Smart if available in their area, use another licensed driving school, or use another lawful option if eligible, such as parent-taught driver education.

The classroom-only option can be a good fit for Texas families who want a structured online driver education classroom course but plan to complete the driving portion separately.
